Speculation has been rife that the Liverpool striker
could be on his way this summer, with Real Madrid favourites to secure his
signature.
The president of the Spanish giants, Florentino Perez, who is seeking
re-election at the Bernabéu, confirmed his club’s interest in the 26
year-old to Spanish newspaper Marca.
"Suárez is a great player and I am sure all in the world would want him,"
Pérez said. "I like him and others too."
As a result, the player's agent, Per Guardiola, was forced to insist that
Suarez is content at Liverpool, especially after further reports in Spain
suggested Real would activate a supposed £40 million release clause.
And now Suarez has confirmed what all Liverpool supporters dreaded - their
best player is unlikely be at the club next season, although he has also
revealed that no confirmed offers have been placed on the table and that he
will do his best for the team if none are forthcoming.
