What is the actual theme Singapore Food Festival 2012?
This year’s festival is all just about our seafood. Singapore has already been called the actual island seafood and people come coming from all above the actual world to try it. We have fish, prawns and crabs that are bred here within Singapore. We even have our own oysters now. This is some the actual beautiful seafood that we are being spoilt with.
So is it a celebration of the seafood in Singapore?
Yes, and when people eat this kind seafood it always is a new celebration. If you have a new birthday, a new farewell party, you get high grades or you graduate, you must eat crab, prawns, lobster or steamboat.
What seafood should Singapore be most proud of and what are your favourite dishes?
the actual big one is chilli crab. within Singapore we use Sri Lankan crabs, which most countries can’t get. These crabs are huge – pincer above palm – each one can weigh one kilo. There are debates above where the actual recipe originated, nevertheless it doesn’t matter if we created the actual recipe or not. We just cook really good chilli crab that won’t taste the actual same anywhere else. moreover crab, we eat a new lot good crayfish, lobster, and really big fish just like seabass and grouper. These are huge and very tasty. I personally just like black pepper crab and I love crab with vermicelli. the actual crab is cut into small pieces and cooked with thin rice noodles. This is the actual food that I love.
What is there to do at this year’s festival?
The actual main event is Singapore Food Festival Village, held placed at the actual Waterfront Promenade. Here there will be just about 50 stalls run simply by chefs and popular restaurants, cooking their food as for everyone to try. You’ll be able to get a new card to go within and eat placed at all the actual different stalls. It’s a new good idea to go with your friends or family to try more dishes. Otherwise, alone you’ll just eat one dish and be full. Apart coming from the actual seafood center we have cooking demos, and my friend Violet Oon will be doing cooking workshops. We will also be taking people on 5am trips to Jurong Fishery Port to choose their own seafood. a new chef will then cook breakfast as for the actual guest using the actual seafood that they’ve chosen. course the actual highlight will be the actual Singapore Food Festival platter, consisting the actual different Singaporean seafood specialties.
What other events will be held around the city?
In Little India they will be trying to break a record during the festival by cooking and serving 2012 portions of curry fish-head at one time – this is a celebration of the year 2012. In Kampong Glam chefs will be cooking up some Malay seafood, and on Sentosa there is going to be a beach BBQ. There are going to be many events across Singapore.
How is this year’s festival different from previous years and what can people look forward to the most?
The festival village location is new and there have never been so many stalls involved and cooking out in the open. Besides the cooking demos and activities, the festival is all about eating. It’s about trying all the different types of seafood from all the different restaurants in one go. Instead of having to travel to one restaurant, you can walk into this big space and in one day enjoy all fifty.
